APPROACH & STRATEGY
We care about leaving the Planet in a better state than we found it in therefore reducing our impact on the environment. Not only in our stores, but making it easier for our customers to recycle our products through our Recycling Loop. We'll limit the materials used in our receptacles making recycling simple efficient, whilst also moving to RPET, Bagasse, & Recycled Paper. We'll stay committed to our 2% Food Waste Score by continuing to make everything fresh to order.
FOOD WASTE APP
We've built our own Food Waste App in-house which means we can track all our waste and stay best in class.
2% FOOD WASTE
We’ve got our waste game down! Only 2% of our waste goes in the bin. This is due to us making everything to order. Fresh is best.
All our napkins are now made from 100% recycled materials. Recycling is life.
Our relationship with plastic straws is over. All our stores now have 100% paper straws.
We’ve saved 16 million plastic gloves by removing them from our stores and replacing them with sanitiser dispensers. High five!
We’re making waves not polluting them. We’ve switched to wooden cutlery in all our stores worldwide.
3 SECTIONED BINS
We're making it easier to for our guests to recycle products properly. These bins separate trash into 3 categories, meaning everyone is doing their bit to save the turtles.
We've created Joe Reusable Cups so that our guests can help us reduce single use. Every purchase with a Joe Reusable Cup gets a discount.
RPET PLASTIC CUPS
Our plastic products will be made from recycled plastic, meaning less single use and landfill. We’re starting with 40% RPET juice cups and are working on a 100% solution for 2025.
Our plastic water bottles will be made from 100% recycled plastic, starting out with Europe in 2020 and rolling out in the rest of the World in 2021.
TO STAY PORCELAIN + GLASSES
We will be stocking porcelain cups and glasses for guests who want to chill in the store with their coffee or juice.
Bagasse is a sugar cane bi-product that we will be using for our bowls in 2020. It’s compostable and a 100% biological material.
Bagasse is a sugar cane bi-product that we will be using for our coffee cups from 2021. It’s compostable and a 100% biological material.
You don’t have to hug a tree to save the Planet! By 2021, 100% of our paper bags will be made from recycled paper.
