Step 1

Boil water based on the amount you plan to brew. See our ratio guide to right.

Step 2

Place a filter in your preferred brewing device and rinse thoroughly with hot water. This will eliminate any papery taste and preheat the brewer.

Weigh out the Joe filter coffee grounds.

Place the brewer on the scale, add coffee and tare to zero.

Start your timer and add twice as much water as coffee (e.g. 30 g coffee x 2 = 60g water) over the grounds and wait 30 seconds. Pour the water in a circular motion and make sure all the coffee is saturated. This step is essential and allows the coffee to de-gas enabling the water to get the best result of the coffee. This is called the bloom.

After the blooming is finished, add water in stages (100g at a time) until you reach the desired brew weight. Do this in a circular motion starting from the center out to the perimeter and back to the center again.
